Two single family homes nestled within a grove of mature oaks and elms in west Austin.
Building footprint is generated by the interstitial space between protected root zones. The volumes are broken down to achieve a village like quality nestled in the trees. Each building volume is separated by a vertical glass window/banding to further delineate the distinct volumes. An axial entry glass canopy leads one to the main entry threshold. The glass canopy works to heighten one's awareness of the being in the grove by capturing the animated movements of the tree shadows above one's path.
